The Brandon Agency, a Myrtle Beach, S.C.-based national marketing company, bids farewell to long time VP and Senior Account Manager, John Rusher after a golf marketing career spanning more than 25 years.

Known around the Grand Strand for his strong relationships and vast knowledge of the golf industry, John is among the true pioneers in the golf travel industry. As the lead account manager and point of contact for all of the agency’s golf accounts, John has been instrumental in the marketing efforts of the agency’s – and the region’s – biggest golf clients, including Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, Dunes Golf and Beach Club, Caledonia and True Blue Golf Club, the Waccamaw Golf Trail and others.

“In John’s 25 years here at TBA, he has always been quick to respond and lend advice,” Scott Brandon, CEO of The Brandon Agency, said. “He has worked and played with some of golf’s greatest – including Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Tom Weiskopf and Julie Inkster – and promoted our clients to golfers throughout the U.S., Canada and the U.K. What I found in working with John was that underneath that quiet persona is a brilliant marketing mind with great ideas and a tireless dedication to helping our clients succeed.”

“I was fortunate to begin my career in golf at a time when people in the golf industry actually had time to play golf,” John said. “I met a lot of great people along the way. One of those was Cecil Brandon, who inspired me and introduced me to so many golf industry leaders. I’ll never forget, my very first week on the job, Mr. Brandon and I flew to New York for lunch with the publisher of the #1 golf magazine in the world. It’s been a lot of fun, and now it’s time to play some golf!”

John and his wife Robbie will continue to call the Charleston area home, with more frequent visits to the N.C. mountains. In addition to fishing, playing golf and in general having more fun, John will remain involved with the Waccamaw Golf Trail and will continue to consult for The Brandon Agency on a project basis.

“On behalf of everyone here at the agency, and myself personally, thank you John for all you have done for me, this agency, our clients and this community,” Brandon added. “While we will miss you being here every day, we wish you much happiness in your retirement and know that you are always welcome at the Brandon Agency.”
