Social Media has become a true extension of real life in the 21st century. We are constantly checking for status updates, the latest tweets and the newest photos.

And we at The Brandon Agency we fully believe that if a brand isn’t in the social media space, then they are behind in the game. Although social media can be scary to many companies who are unfamiliar with it, it’s necessary to be successful and to reach current and potential customers.

Nevertheless, the biggest question we typically get asked is, “why social media?”

Here are a few of the top reasons:

1.) Website Traffic– Website traffic is essential. It doesn’t matter what type of company you have, visits to your site end up boosting revenue, exposure and prestige. And, social media is one of the biggest ways to drive traffic to your site. For example, you have a hotel in Myrtle Beach, and you are looking to book more rooms. You can create a post on Facebook explaining a current offer and link directly out to your booking engine. Maybe you want a guest to see the amenities you have on-site. Create a post describing what you have, add a photo, and link out to the specific amenities page.

2.) Fan Growth – Fan growth is very important. Everyone wants repeat customers, as well as new ones. The best way to implement this strategy is through Facebook. The most recent study shows that Facebook has more than 1 billion active members, with the average user having 190 friends. All that user has to do is like or share a post your created, and it is now being seen by those 190 friends. Think about the potential if a larger number clicks on the post. Explosive exposure! If you are looking to get your name out there, or a special deal you need Facebook.

3.) Engagement- The social team at The Brandon Agency believes that engagement is the key metric. It shows that your customer is interested in what you’re saying and offering. Many people wonder what to do after they created their Facebook page and gained followers. There are several ways to do so, including contests, promotions, asking questions and sharing your latest news. This avenue shows fans you care about their patronage and that you are there to listen when it is needed.

Social media can be scary, but when it has this many rewards why not take the chance?
